Former European middleweight champion Matthew Macklin squared up to WBA “super” champion Felix Sturm at the press conference in Germany this week and believes now, more than ever that he will become a world champion on June 25th at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne.
The 28 year-old from Birmingham, who has 28 victories in 30 bouts, faces a tough task against the long-standing titleholder in his home city. Macklin is happy with his preparations for the event and wants to show the boxing world that he belongs in world-class, somewhere the German, 32, has been for over eight years.
